Born in 1950, Fil Delacruz is a National Artist nominee. He studied at the University of Santo Tomas where he majored in Advertising Arts. Among the very few Filipino artists who have mastered both painting and print. Art lovers commonly identify Delacruz with his “Diwata” series which has seen a number of incarnations and transformations through the decades.
His recognitions include Thirteen Artists Awardee of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1992, Outstanding Bulakenyo in the field of Art in 1982, Outstanding Citizen of Muntinlupa in the Field of Arts in 1999, and he was awarded the “Parangal Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan” from the City of Manila, in 2007. His works have been exhibited in China; Germany; Spain; Hong Kong; Bratislava, Czechoslovakia; Brussels, Belgium; Paris, France; and New York. He worked as a senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, Philippine High School for the Arts in Los Baños, and University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design. He was the President of the Philippine Association of Printmakers from 1990 to 2000 and was also the President of Lakansining ng Bulakan. Delacruz has held over 20 solo shows. He resides in his Art Studio/Gallery at Bahay Sining, Muntinlupa City, Philippines.
