A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture and Fine Arts, Augusto Ortega Santiago Jr. is one of the leaders of the art community that has a considerable contribution to the Artists’ Cultural Exchange program between the Philippines and Malaysia. A master in figurative paintings, he is well versed in any medium that one can imagine, beautifully and carefully crafted his pieces with utmost details.
He captures not only the composition but also the soul of the subject in front of him. He is also a well-grounded teacher of Fine Arts – teaching artists during various events and exhibitions and demoing life sketches whenever he can. He exhibited his collections in Toronto with the Philippine Artists Group of Canada. Santiago is the recipient of the “Modern Impressionist Artist” Gold Awards for Culture And Arts in 1999 and the “Responsableng Serbisyo” Award for the promotion of Culture and the Arts by Congressman Ricky Sandoval, Philippines House of Representatives.
